Ivan Lendl has declared he is not worried about Andy Murray’s fitness or form ahead of Wimbledon.

It follows Murray’s first round loss at Queen’s and now another withdrawal from an exhibition match, citing hip soreness as the reason.

But Lendl, who is aiming to coach Murray to back-to-back Wimbledon titles, sees no reason to panic.

“I’m very pleased,” Lendl said of Murray’s form on the practice court.

“Unlike Paris he is hitting the ball really well.”

Lendl also downplayed Murray’s loss to world No.90 Jordan Thompson at Queen’s last week, where he was the defending champion.

“The first match on grass is always tricky,” Lendl said.

The former world No.1 said he wasn’t surprised to see Novak Djokovic competing in Eastbourne this week for that reason.

“That’s why Novak is in Eastbourne,” Lendl said. “He is not in Eastbourne because he likes Eastbourne, nothing against Eastbourne. He is there because he is looking for matches on grass. It’s a specific surface.”

Djokovic was asked about the doubts surrounding Murray after reaching the Eastbourne semifinals.

“I’m sure Andy will be ready for Wimbledon. I’m sure he is doing everything in his power to get himself ready and prepared for his first match,” Djokovic said.

“We have learned how to play through pain. Professional athletes are very familiar with pain on a daily basis, whether it’s just a small stiffness, a tightness, a soreness, whatever you want to call it, or sometimes something even bigger.”

Roger Federer, speaking at the unveiling of the Laver Cup trophy, also expects Murray to again be a Wimbledon contender.

“The way I know Andy, he’s tough as nails and I feel like he’s going to be there on opening Monday,” said Federer.
