Top seed Novak Djokovic has continued his Wimbledon preparations with another victory on England’s south coast.
The Serb subdued Donald Young 6-2 7-6(9) to take his place in the semifinals of the Aegon International Eastbourne, where he’ll face Russian young gun Daniil Medvedev.
Medvedev continued his excellent grasscourt season with a 6-3 2-6 6-3 win over Steve Johnson; after reaching quarterfinals in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Queen’s, the 21-year-old is now through to the final four in Eastbourne with a 9-2 record on grass in 2017.

Also advancing to the semifinals were Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet, who set up an all-French affair with wins over Bernard Tomic and John Isner respectively.
Djokovic, who at world No.4 is the highest-ranked male player to appear in Eastbourne since 1999, said he enjoyed his hit-out against Young.
“The first set went my way and I played well. I felt good on the court and had some break point opportunities early in the second set,” he said.
“He served for the set, had a set point and then had set point in the tie-break … Obviously, it could have gone easily his way. But it hasn’t, and I’m just glad the way I kind of held my composure, my nerves.
“This is the kind of match situation that I was looking forward to having, and I’m glad it happened today and I managed to overcome that.”
Djokovic will face Medvedev in the first men’s semifinal of the day – after the two women’s semis – before Gasquet and Monfils face off.
