Bouchard to work again with Hogstedt

Eugenie Bouchard has reunited with former coach Thomas Hogstedt and will work with the Swede in 2017.

Bouchard parted ways with Hogstedt – who has also coached Li Na, Maria Sharapova and Madison Keys – in March 2016 due to a disagreement.

She began working with another former coach, Nick Saviano, but endured a trying season which ended with her barely clinging to a top 50 ranking.

“I decided I wanted something new. There aren’t that many great coaches out there, and most of them are taken. I’m so grateful that Thomas has agreed to work with me again,” Bouchard told thestar.com.

“I feel that he was maybe something that was a missing piece this year to have better results.

“I almost don’t see it as ending (back in March), more just taking a break at the spur of the moment because of an unfair incident — an unlucky bad decision by him, a bad decision by me that kind of ended things in a bad way.

“I think that’s why we were both so happy to work with each other again because we didn’t have any problems, and we really enjoyed our time together.

“Now it’s about being straightforward, being honest, and letting the little things go, as well — like a relationship.”

Hogstedt revealed that Bouchard was waiting at Tampa airport to apologise to him when he touched down there not long after parting ways with Keys.

Keys is another player who had reunited with a former coach, teaming once again with Lindsay Davenport.

“She was waiting for me at the Tampa airport, to say, ‘Sorry’,” he said.

“I was kind of impressed with that one. She came and apologised. We talked, to see what we can do.”
