Madison Keys, despite her disappointment at missing the Australian Open, was excited to announce she was back working with former world No.1 Lindsay Davenport.

Madison Keys announced she has begun working once again with former coach Lindsay Davenport.

Keys, the world No.8, took to Twitter on Friday to reveal that she would not be playing the Australian Open in 2017 due to wrist surgery.

But she tempered that news with the following.

“Good – actually, AZAMZING! – news is that Lindsay Davenport will be my coach again,” she tweeted.

“I’m very excited about working with Lindsay again as she’s helped me reach great results in the past and we make an excellent team!”

Davenport began working with Keys in the off-season prior to 2015.

It was a successful partnership, with Keys advancing to the Australian Open 2015 semifinals and the Charleston final and completing her first top-20 season.

But it was always a part-time arrangement – with Davenport’s media and family commitments, the former world No.1 shared coaching duties with husband Jon Leach and occasionally American doubles star Lisa Raymond.

Keys expressed her desire for a more permanent coaching set up and before 2016 commenced she parted ways with Davenport and co. and linked up with Jesse Levine.

The arrangement with Levine didn’t last, and neither did subsequent stints in with Mats Wilander and Thomas Hogstedt.

Now she’s back with Davenport, and has been training with the three-time Grand Slam champion as well as at the USTA’s new facility in Orlando, Florida in the off-season.

Keys said her decision to skip the Australian Open was to ensure she didn’t rush back following arthroscopic surgery on her left wrist not long after the WTA Finals in Singapore.
