Juan Martin del Potro wins the top-10 contest against Alexander Zverev to set up an Acapulco final against in-form Kevin Anderson.

Sixth seed Juan Martin del Potro saw off second seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets to reach the Mexican Open final in Acapulco.

Del Potro made it two wins out of two against the world number five with a 6-4 6-2 victory in one hour and 32 minutes.

The Argentine will face Kevin Anderson in the final after the South African beat American Jared Donaldson 6-3 4-6 6-3.

Anderson has now won eight matches in a row after arriving in Acapulco off the back of winning the inaugural New York Open title last week.

Del Potro has a 6-0 record against Anderson, with their last meeting a straight-sets win in Delray Beach in 2017.

In the women’s event in Acapulco, defending champion Lesia Tsurenko beat Australian Daria Gavrilova 6-2 6-4, and Switzerland’s Stefanie Voegele saw off Rebecca Peterson of Sweden 6-4 7-6(5).

Cuevas takes winning streak to 15 in Sao Paulo

Pablo Cuevas made it 15 wins and counting as he closes in on a fourth consecutive Brasil Open title in Sao Paulo.

The 32-year-old Uruguayan beat Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer 6-2 6-7(13) 7-6(5) in a gripping quarterfinal which lasted two hours and 55 minutes.

“The [15-match win streak] feels incredible,” Cuevas told atpworldtour.com. “I felt the support from the Brazilian fans and today a lot of Uruguayans showed up.”

He will face Italian second seed Fabio Fognini in the semifinals, while Nicolas Jarry of Chile takes on Argentine Horacio Zeballos.

In Dubai, Lucas Pouille is one win away from breaking into the world’s top 10 for the first time.

The Frenchman beat Serb Filip Krajinovic 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(4) to set up a final against Roberto Bautista Agut.

“If I play like this every week of the year and if I’m focused like this and I’m mentally as strong as I am now, I’m sure one week or another I will be in the Top 10,” said Pouille.
