Serena Williams ‘most fashionable’ tennis player

Serena Williams is the most fashionable tennis player on the planet, according to a new list compiled by Sports Illustrated (SI). Serena came third in the list of most fashionable athletes across all sports, narrowly beating Roger Federer (fourth) and Maria Sharapova (10th).

The team from SI worked with a panel of fashionistas, stylists, and a wealth of good looking types to compile the list.

Serena, who topped the list in 2016, told Sports Illustrated that her goal is to stay stylish during her pregnancy: “I am proud of my body and want my clothing to reflect that,” Serena said.

“If anything, I hope that I’ll be even more stylish during pregnancy than I normally am!”

Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, who topped GQ’s most stylish man awards in 2016, just ‘keeps getting better with age’ according to the panel of judges. ‘His timeless style extends to his looks on and off the court, but he really excels in classic pieces, such as blazers and slim suits,’ they mused.

Meanwhile, Maria Sharapova was credited by InStyle editor Faye Penn for her ‘casual cool street style’. “Everything looks great on model-athlete Maria Sharapova, who’s lately been acing the elusive art of casual cool street style,” Penn opined.

Serena, Roger and Maria may have been the standout tennis stars in the fashion list, but they weren’t the only players to pick up accolades in the awards.

Venus Williams was named ‘The Athleisure Leader’ for her clothing range EleVen by Venus; Dominika Cibulkova picked up ‘The Selfie Award; Genie Bouchard was given ‘The Always-On-Trend Award’; and Caroline Wozniacki edged The Always-On-Point Award.
