Milos Raonic has announced that he is splitting with coach Richard Krajicek. The Canadian made the surprise announcement on social media after just six months of working with the Dutchman:
My coach, Richard Krajicek, and I have decided to part ways. This decision has been a mutual one. I would like to thank Richard for his help with my game, his dedication and his professionalism. I wish him all the best.
Raonic has been struggling with injury throughout 2016. Despite a series of solid results over the last month, he was the only male player inside the top eight seeds not to make the French Open quarterfinals after suffering a fourth round defeat to Pablo Carreno Busta.
During their spell working together, the Canadian has also seen his ranking drop from No.3 in the world to No.6.
The news comes as a surprise with the Tour now moving into the grass court season – what was traditionally Krajicek’s strongest surface. During his career, the Dutchman was renowned as a grass court specialist and won Wimbledon in 1996.
Raonic was runner-up at the All England Club in 2016.
