Umpire in the firing line (again)

Remember Arnaud Gabas? Sort of? Well, he’s the umpire that Denis Shapovalov managed to nigh on kill during the Davis Cup tie between Canada and Great Britain back in February. Well, after surgery and a lot of time on the sidelines, Gabas is back in the firing line – as he found out against Robin Haase. The Dutchman rifled a return during his match against Rafael Nadal, and came within a whisker of taking Gabas’ head off once again. The ITF need to pay the man danger money.

Gabas wasn’t the inly umpire in the firing line yesterday. Steve Johnson was left perplexed when he was given a code violation for abusing a little fluffy ball:
