The Tiebreak Tens event in Madrid on Thursday night captured the imagination of the tennis Twittersphere – thanks mostly to a reunion of sorts between exes Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov.

A Tiebreak Tennis exhibition was staged at Madrid’s Caja Magica on Thursday night.

The draws were fabulous.

But what really sparked interest on tennis Twitter was the fact ex-partners Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov sat next to one another throughout the matches.

Photograph it they did.

While the reunion of Sharapova and Dimitrov was the major talking point, the exhibition provided plenty of other amusing moments that tennis fans couldn’t get enough of on social media.

In the end, Dimitrov and Simona Halep were the winners. And it appeared Simona didn’t quite know what to make of her prize …

The official action – that is, sanctioned ATP and WTA tournament play – begins in Madrid this weekend.
