Ivanovic to make announcement

Ana Ivanovic will make an announcement on her Facebook page at 6pm UK time on 28 December.

Serbian star Ana Ivanovic has encouraged her fans to visit her Facebook page where she will “be sharing something important” live.

The former world No.1 will make the announcement at 6pm UK time on Wednesday 28 December.

Naturally, speculation has begun as to the content of the announcement, with two theories – retirement and pregnancy – recurring on social media.

Ivanovic married German soccer star Bastian Schweinsteiger in July 2016; just two weeks later, Schweinsteiger retired from international football.

Ivanovic cut short her 2016 season in September due to a wrist injury, and has not played since a first-round loss at the US Open.

Reports have emerged that Ivanovic is set to miss the ASB Classic in Auckland.
