Andy Murray is ‘likely’ to miss the rest of the season because of injury, according to a statement the world No.2 made on Facebook. Murray, who has struggled with hip problems since a semifinal defeat to Stan Wawrinka at the French Open, will definitely skip the Asian swing and will probably sit out the remaining ATP events of 2017.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in the upcoming events in Beijing and Shanghai, and most likely, the final two events to finish the season in Vienna and Paris due to my hip injury which has been bothering me the last few months,” Murray said on Facebook.

“Having consulted with a number of leading hip specialists over the last week, along with my own team, we have decided that this is the best decision for my long-term future.
“Although this has been a frustrating year on court for many reasons, I’m confident after this extended period of rest and rehabilitation that I will be able to reach my best level again and be competing for Grand Slam titles next season.”

Murray has struggled for form and fitness throughout 2017. The former world No.1 has won just one title this season, and failed to reach a Slam final.
The news is another blow to the ATP, who have seen Novak Djokovic (elbow), Stan Wawrinka (knee) and Kei Nishikori (wrist) all call time on their seasons.
