Maria Sharapova and Garbine Muguruza will contest an exhibition match in Madrid on a half clay, half grass court.

The Spaniards sure are fans of this particular tennis exhibition concept.

Almost a decade after Mallorca hosted an exhibition match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on a purpose-built half clay, half grass court, Maria Sharapova and Garbine Muguruza will follow suit – this time in Madrid.

The match will be staged on 2 December at the Caja Magica – home of the Madrid Open.

Sharapova is adept on both surfaces, as a former champion at Roland Garros (2012, 2014) and Wimbledon (2004).

Muguruza is the reigning French Open champion and also reached the Wimbledon final in 2015.
