Well, you don’t see this every day …
Players frequently opt not to shake an umpires hand after a match, whether they feel aggrieved over an apparently bad call, targeted by an over-zealous official or just generally unhappy with the state of the relationship.
Rarely – if ever – has an umpire turned the tables on the player.
But that’s what happened when Yulia Putintseva beat Varvara Flink in the first round of Washington DC’s Citi Open.
Putintseva sealed a 7-5 7-5 victory in the first round on Monday night, but chair umpire Anja Vreg wasn’t having any of the typical traditions and niceties that accompany the end of a match.

Perhaps this exchange, earlier in the match, helped put the situation into context …
YOU GUYS.
Ump: "you complain about every shot on the line."
P: "this is my last match with you."
Ump: "I hope so." pic.twitter.com/SS9JE61mn3— Matthew (@MRisingStar18) July 19, 2016
