Kristie Ahn to coach: “Don’t leave me!”

Published by Tennismash

Say what will you will about on-court coaching, but one thing is undeniable – it often produces some golden moments for TV.

That was again the case on Tuesday in Charleston when former pro Shenay Perry came on court to chat to Kristie Ahn, who was on her way to upsetting Sam Stosur in the first round.

Perry was full of positivity and went to give her charge – who was towelling down and not paying attention – a fist-bump.

Left hanging, she decided to exit, which led to this hilarious exchange:

“Oh sorry, wait, you’re leaving? Don’t leave me!” Ahn pleaded.

“They can hear this on the mics, bye,” Perry answered.

Ahn valiantly reached out to the departing Perry for a fist bump, before realising it was futile.

“She hates me,” Ahn said to the camera.

Ahn went on to defeat Stosur 6-2 6-4 to advance to the second round , where she’ll face fifth seed Julia Goerges.
