Rafa Nadal will go to the Olympics, according to the head of the Spanish Olympic Committee.

Rafa Nadal will be fit for the Olympics, according to the head of the Spanish Olympic Committee. The 2008 Olympic champion, who missed London 2012 because of a knee injury, is recovering from a wrist injury that forced him out of both the French Open and Wimbledon.

“Nadal’s commitment is total and he will go to Rio to participate,” confirmed Alejandro Blanco, the president of Spain’s Olympic committee.

“I have no doubts over his participation. He is training regularly in order to achieve what he wants – a medal.”

Nadal has been selected to play in singles and mixed doubles (with Garbine Muguruza) at the Olympics. He will also be Spain’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony on August 5th.
