Juan Martin del Potro has announced he is skipping the French Open later this month.

The 27-year-old Argentinean is on the comeback from career-threatening wrist injuries and informed his fans via social media he would instead focus on preparing for the grass court season.

Injury has prevented del Potro from competing at Roland Garros since 2012, when he was a quarterfinalist. His best result in Paris is a semifinal in 2009.

The 2009 US Open champion is currently ranked No.229 and boasts eight wins from the five ATP World Tour tournaments he has contested so far this season.

Del Potro, a former world No.5, has not played in a Grand Slam since Australian Open 2014.
