Novak Djokovic saves three set points to win the third set, holding a two-sets-to-one lead over Rafael Nadal when their semifinal resumes on Saturday.

Novak Djokovic leads Rafael Nadal two sets to one in their Wimbledon semifinal, which on Friday was suspended overnight due to the late hour.

Djokovic snared a scintillating third-set tiebreak – having survived three Nadal set points – under lights on Centre Court to take a 6-4 3-6 7-6(9) lead.

They will resume their match on Saturday at 1pm London time, prior to the women’s final between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber.

Local laws prevent play at Wimbledon beyond 11pm, which was almost precisely the time the Serb won the third set.

Their match did not begin until after 8pm due to the five-set semifinal epic that came before it between Kevin Anderson and John Isner.

Anderson needed six hours and 36 minutes to seal victory, winning 26-24 in the fifth set.

Djokovic is looking to reach his first Grand Slam final in almost two years while Nadal has not featured in a Wimbledon decider since 2011.
