Novak Djokovic has confirmed he will compete during the grass-court season by taking a wildcard into the Fever Tree Championships at Queen’s Club in London.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion had suggested he might skip the grass following his surprise quarterfinal defeat by world No.72 Marco Cecchinato at the French Open.
“I don’t know if I’m going to play on grass,” he said in Paris. “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
However, Djokovic will now return to the Wimbledon warm-up event in west London for the first time since 2010.
“I have happy memories of reaching the final at The Queen’s Club 10 years ago and also winning the doubles title the last time I was there,” said the Serb.
“The grass courts are always perfect, the atmosphere always great and I am looking forward to playing in front of the British crowds again.”
Djokovic is now ranked No.21 after struggling with form and fitness, and has a modest 14-8 record for the season so far.
He joins a stellar line-up at Queen’s Club, which includes world No.1 Rafael Nadal, Grand Slam champions Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka, Juan Martin del Potro and Marin Cilic, and young stars like Denis Shapovalov and Nick Kyrgios.
The Fever Tree Championships gets under way on 18 June.
