Juan Martin del Potro extends his winning streak to 14 after seeing off Filip Krajinovic, while Borna Coric and Alexander Zverev join him in the Miami quarterfinals.

Juan Martin del Potro rattled off nine straight games from 1-4 down in the opening set to overwhelm Filip Krajinovic and seal a spot in the Miami Open quarterfinals.

Del Potro’s 6-4 6-2 victory was his 14th in a row, with the Argentine having won titles in Acapulco and Indian Wells prior to arriving in Miami.

In other results, John Isner upset second seed Marin Cilic while Pablo Carreno Busta and Kevin Anderson set up a rematch of their 2017 US Open semifinal with straight-sets wins on Tuesday.

“The conditions were horrible for playing tennis today, and I didn’t know him from the past, so I couldn’t start well the match,” Del Potro said. “But once I broke his serve I got confidence on my game again.

“It’s nice to keep winning, but my body feels all the effort what I’ve been doing the last month … this could be my last effort of the trip and then I will have a big while to recover myself.

“I will try to keep going and see how far I can go.”

He stands three wins from an impressive Indian Wells-Miami double and will next take on Milos Raonic in a rematch of their Indian Wells semifinal a fortnight ago, which Del Potro won comfortably.

Raonic moved through to the quarters with a 6-3 6-4 win over Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Coric wins Next Gen thriller

Croatia’s Borna Coric came out on top of a thrilling fourth-rounder against Denis Shapovalov to take his place in a second straight ATP Masters quarterfinal.

Two weeks after advancing to the semis at Indian Wells, the 21-year-old continued his fine form, subduing the 18-year-old 7-6(2) 4-6 6-4 on his third match point.

Coric will now face Alexander Zverev, after the German levelled his head-to-head series against Nick Kyrgios at 3-3 thanks to a straight-sets win on Tuesday night.

Zverev, seeded No.4, raced to a 5-1 lead in just 18 minutes against a struggling Kyrgios, before the Aussie settled into the match and found the range on serve.

But Zverev wasn’t going to let this slip, staying focused and finishing the match with a tidy ratio of 22 winners to 13 errors.

Also advancing to the last eight was 21-year-old Hyeon Chung; the 19th seed beat Joao Sousa in straight sets to set up a meeting with Isner.

Carreno Busta and Anderson beat Fernando Verdasco and and Frances Tiafoe respectively, both straight-sets affairs.
