It is official – Australian Open champion Serena Williams is married.

The tennis superstar married her partner Alexis Ohanian in a star studded ceremony in New Orleans this week.

Serena was surrounded by her family and friends, including sister Venus.

It was the celebrity wedding of the year between Serena and Alexis, who is the co-founder of Internet giant Reddit.

Guests included Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Kelly Rowland, and Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z. Serena’s closet friend on the WTA Tour, Danish player Caroline Wozniacki, was also there with new fiancé David Lee, an NBA player.

The wedding took place at the Contemporary Art Museum in New Orleans.

It’s believed Serena wore a gown by Alexander McQueen for the ceremony, before changing into a Versace party dress for the reception, paired with specially designed sparkly Nike shoes so she could party the night away in comfort.

On top of that, she wore jewellery worth nearly $4 million.

Serena and Alexis gave birth to a baby girl in September, also named Alexis.

All eyes now will be on Serena in January in Melbourne, where she is expected to make her comeback at the Australian Open.

It would be a remarkable story to see her walk on Rod Laver Arena again – a place where she has had so much success – just four months after becoming a mother.
