Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are GQ personified - but who should play them in a movie? Getty Images

Trollope: Roger & Rafa’s resurgence has been incredible. And if not for them, this would be one of the more forgettable ATP seasons in history.

Christie: The Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer revival year. #OldSchool #SettingtheStandard

Briscomb: Probably the most romantic year in the sport’s history while simultaneously highlighting the dark Fedal-less days that await.

Your tweet-length review of the 2017 WTA season …

Trollope: Still some maddening inconsistency, but there’s a core of top players settling into their positions and producing some excellent contests.

Christie: From comeback queens to rising stars, established champs and breakthrough winners, there’s never been such a sense of anything-is-possible.

Briscomb: Unpredictability and credibility are mutually exclusive in the world of tennis. Come back SW, tennis needs you.

Shia LaBeouf and Sverrir Gudnason are playing John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg in the latest tennis movie, ‘Borg McEnroe’. Which two actors would you cast in the inevitable Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal rivalry movie?

Trollope: Let’s go Bond themed – the suave style of Daniel Craig for Federer, and the Spanish allure of Javier Bardem for Nadal.

Christie: Federer himself nominated Leo Di Caprio – and you don’t argue with Roger. Not sure anybody has the required intensity to replicate Rafa but let’s go with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Briscomb: Michiel Huisman (Roger) and Gael García Bernal (Rafa) are my picks, but you’re probably not going to get a lot of butts on seats.

What is your favourite press conference moment of 2017?

Trollope:

Christie: Serena to a reporter questioning a “scrappy” AO2017 second-round win over Lucie Safarova: “You should have been out there. That wasn’t very kind. You should apologise. Do you want to apologise?” They did.

Briscomb:

The involuntary sounds he makes from .20-.29 gets me every time.

If they were made to go on a dinner date, which two tennis players (current) would be the most delightfully awkward?

Trollope: Dominic Thiem and Carla Suarez Navarro.

Christie: Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov. That’s Grand Slam-level awkward.

Briscomb: Gilles Muller and Sloane Stephens.
