There has been surprises a plenty over the American hard court swing, capped off by a wild US Open. From Rafael Nadal and Garbine Muguruza potentially becoming the first ever Spaniards to be No.1 at the same time, to Roger Federer’s ridiculous record over his US Open opponents, these are the numbers you need to know.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have 159 more Grand Slam wins than the remaining 22 players in the US Open draw.

With a win against David Goffin on Tuesday, 19 year-old Russian Andrey Rublev can become the youngest US Open quarter-finalist since Andy Roddick in 2001.

Roger Federer is a combined 43-0 against his first four 2017 US Opponents

18-year-old Denis Shapovalov is the youngest man in US Open history to reach the fourth-round since Michael Chang in 1989. He is the youngest man to reach the fourth-round in any Grand Slam since Marat Safin in 1998.

Since the American hard court swing, Shapovalov has gone 19-3 and will ascend roughly 110 rank spots from No.161.

Kevin Anderson, currently the third favourite man to win the US Open, has a tournament record of four third-round exits, one first and secondround exit, and one quarterfinal appearance.

Throughout her US Open career, Maria Sharapova is undefeated under lights. All her losses have been during daylight.

If she defeats Daria Kasatkina on Tuesday, world No. 418 Kaia Kanepi will be the lowest ranked player in US Open history to reach a quarterfinal.

Pablo Carreno Busta is the first player to face four qualifiers at any Grand Slam in the Open Era.

World No. 91 Jennifer Brady, who plays No.1 Karolina Pliskova in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, has won seven WTA level main draw matches in 2017 – all of which have been in Grand Slams.

Agnieszka Radwanksa has never made the quarterfinals at the US Open. She has made seven quarterfinals, four semifinals and one final in the other three Major tournaments.

Since her final 16 appearance in the 2015 US Open, Eugenie Bouchard is 7-9 in Grand Slams and 0-2 in New York.

If Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina don’t reach the semifinals, Garbine Muguruza will become world No.1. If Rafael Nadal can maintain his No.1 ranking, the pair will become the first Spaniards to be No.1 at the same time.

On July 17, Sloane Stephens was ranked No. 901. With a quarterfinal on Wednesday, she is set to finish the hard court swing ranked around No.50.

There are five US women – Madison Keys, Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Coco Vandeweghe, Jennifer Brady — in the final 16 of the US Open. It’s the most since 2002. Surprisingly, Serena Williams is not one of them.
