Well compadres, we’re right in the thick of 2017’s final Grand Slam. And just like any good major, it’s served up some pleasant surprises and shocking disappointments (such is the game we play!).

With that in mind, let’s look at some of the noteworthy players so far on this roller coaster of a game week.

Follow the FTL Insider for all the stats, tips and news you need to ace your league.

Heroes

Rafael Nadal ($19.28m): Any questions around Rafa’s ability to perform on the faster hard court were quickly erased with a straights sets demolition over Dusan Lajovic. Nadal picked up 20.8 fantasy points behind five aces, five break points converted and six break points saved. The five double faults were a little bit frustrating, but there’s not much you can do about it.

John Isner ($9.46): 52 aces and only three double faults in his first two matches, the big American is and will continue to be a fantasytennisleague.com premium. If he starts winning Grand Slams then he’s a must-own.

Maria Sharapova ($9.18m): She’s playing matches with a lot of points, which is fantasy gold. What’s more, she’s winning. Can’t imagine many had the guts to pick her but those who did are laughing.

Villains

Simona Halep ($14.82): From last week’s article: Don’t bring in Simona Halep… the Romanian crumbles under pressure, so with a Grand Slam and the No.1 ranking up for grabs, expect a flame out. Instead, I recommended Garbine Muguruza, who has dropped just seven games in her two straight sets victories.

Alexander Zverev ($15.6m): From two weeks ago: If you’ve got Alexander Zverev ($15.12m), it’s time to cash in…there’s no question he’s in red hot form, but he’s young and has disappointed in Grand Slams. I like Sascha for the Asian swing, but expecting big things from him in New York was always wishful thinking.

Angelique Kerber ($6.7m): 1.2 fantasy points. Really, Angie? I mean, we know you’re not in form, but still. I know a few that nabbed Kerber because of the attractive price – to those people, I’ll say this: grab your phone, open up Apple Music, search for Usher and play ‘Let It Burn’ on repeat.
