In his 25th meeting with Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych slumped to his 19th defeat.
The Czech has enjoyed an excellent campaign at the All England Club to advance to his second consecutive semifinal, but once again found Federer too strong an opponent in a straight-sets loss.
Berdych has now lost his past eight encounters with the Swiss star and despite being more than five years younger felt that Federer was producing some of the best tennis of his career.
“I don’t see anything that would indicate that really Roger is getting older or anything like that,” Berdych said.
“He’s just proving his greatness in our sport, so that’s all I can say about that.
“I think I played really good tennis throughout the whole tournament, but I just unfortunately faced a guy who’s playing his best.”
The world No.15 hasn’t beaten Federer since the Dubai semifinals of 2013.
