Alexander Zverev’s semifinal against Richard Gasquet at the Gerry Weber Open hinged on one shot in the final set.

That was a running forehand winner, which Zverev curved past the net-bound Frenchman and up the lineĀ for a winner.

Zverev celebrated, thrilled, as the German crowd roared in approval.

And although was simply one point in a game that saw Zverev hold serve to level scores at 3-3, the moment was telling.

“And it’s the moment he’s produced something special (that’s important),” said the TennisTV commentator. “This is crushing for Gasquet. Because what a point – he had him, he had his opponent (on the ropes) and out of nowhere (Zverev) produces that bit of magic right in the corner.”

Gasquet did not win another game, falling to the youngster 4-6 6-4 6-3.
