An injury sustained in her second-round loss to Camila Giorgi at Birmingham has put Elina Svilolina’s Wimbledon participation in doubt.

David Goffin and Samantha Stosur are already missing the tournament.

Kei Nishikori got injured on Thursday for the upteenth time on grass and may not play either.

Angelique Kerber, Nick Kyrgios and Juan Martin del Potro have withdrawn from tournaments already this grasscourt season.

Now, Elina Svitolina is the latest player to suffer physical problems ahead of the biggest tournament of the year.

The Ukrainian, who lost yesterday to Camila Giorgi in three sets in Birmingham, revealed a foot injury contributed to the loss and may keep her out of Wimbledon.

“I was really looking forward to this year at Wimbledon. But today, the court was slippery and it’s so bad for my foot. I will do my best,” Svitolina said on Thursday.

“But for the moment, it’s very uncomfortable, and there is a question about it, because the season is still long and there is lots of big tournaments as well where I will feel more comfortable and confident on the hardcourt.”

Svitolina, ranked fifth, reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros just a few weeks ago to equal her best ever Grand Slam showing.
