Gilles Muller has continued the seed-slaying at Queen’s, swatting aside Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to advance to the quarterfinals of the Aegon Championships.
Muller, who arrived in London on a high after his title-winning run at last week’s tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, took his winning streak to six matches with a 6-4 6-4 victory.
Tsonga became the fourth high-profile player to fall in 24 hours; the No.5 seed joined top-three seeds Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka and Milos Raonic – who all fell on Tuesday – on the sidelines.

Later on Wednesday, Grigor Dimitrov managed to avoid a similar fate.
The sixth-seeded Bulgarian, searching for form after a searing start to the season, overcame dangerous Frenchman Julien Benneteau 4-6 6-3 6-4 in just under two hours.
The win, which sends Dimitrov through to his first quarterfinal since Rotterdam in February, kept alive his lofty end-of-season goal of reaching the ATP Finals field.

He is currently 11th in both the ATP Rankings and the Race to London.
Wednesday’s heat – temperatures reached 34 degrees Celcius in London – seemed to favour Muller, whose vicious left-handed serve helped keep points short.
Tsonga slumped to his second straight loss after losing in the opening round at Roland Garros.
Seventh seed Tomas Berdych also survived – just.
The world No.14 was tested by Canadian qualifer Denis Shapovalov, the Wimbledon boys’ singles champion last year.
Berdych won 7-6(4) 6-7(4) 7-5 against the 18-year-old world No.193. He clinched the match by securing the only break of the match in the final game, converting the sole break point opportunity he had in the two hour, 15-minute battle.
In another result, Donald Young beat Viktor Troicki 6-3 6-4 to reach the last eight, where he will face either No.4 seed Marin Cilic or American qualifier Stefan Kozlov.
