Jerzy Janowicz has picked up one of the more peculiar code violations of the year, after apparently yelling out hamburger.

Jerzy Janowicz has been given a code violation for saying the word hamburger (or so he alleges). The incident occurred during Janowicz’s surprise 7-6(4) 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of Stuttgart.

But it was the curious incident of the hamburger that proved to be the highlights of the match. Janowicz was handed a point penalty by the tournament referee for apparently uttering a profanity. However, the world No.155 was adamant he was merely talking about fast food.

As if to prove the point (and after a lengthy conversation), the Pole sloped away from the chair shouting ‘hot dog’ and ‘doughnuts’.

Janowicz will play Benoit Paire in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
