German Laura Siegemund has withdrawn from Roland Garros after suffering a serious knee injury.
The world No.32 was stretchered off the court at a WTA tournament in Nurnberg after falling awkwardly late in the second set. Fourth-seeded Siegemund was leading Czech qualifier Barbora Krejcikova 6-4 5-5 when the injury to her right knee occurred.

Siegemund has been one of the most in-form players on clay this season, scoring three consecutive top 10 wins in her Stuttgart title run in April.
Injury is proving a curse for many of the form WTA players in the lead-in to the season’s second Grand Slam event, which begins on Sunday.
Madrid quarterfinalist Eugenie Bouchard’s French Open campaign is also in doubt after suffering an ankle injury while practicing in Nurnberg earlier in the week.
