With the publication of this week’s ATP and WTA rankings, the Roland Garros seeds are now all-but confirmed. Unlike Wimbledon, which employs its own methodology for seeding based on a mix of current rankings and previous grass court performances, Roland Garros opts to award seeds based purely on current rankings.
As such, Angelique Kerber and Andy Murray go into the tournament as the top seeds, with Karolina Pliskova and defending champion Novak Djokovic seeded two.

The absence of Roger Federer from the tournament means that men ranked five and below are all bumped up one place in the seedings.
The biggest ‘winners’ from changes in the rankings are undoubtedly Rome winners Elina Svitolina (No.6) and Alex Zverev (No.9). The latter, in particular, is now inside the Top 16, and so should be guaranteed an ‘easier’ draw in the opening rounds.
The only other notable move is Juan Martin del Potro, who jumped back into the seeds (No.30), having slipped outside the Top 32.
