Italian world No.29 Fabio Fognini and his wife Flavia Pennetta, the 2015 US Open champion, are celebrating the birth of their first child.
The couple, who married in June last year, announced the birth on social media today.

The tweet translates to: “Flavia and I are happy to share with you the birth of our son Federico, mom and baby are doing well“
It has been a big week for Fognini, who reached the third round of the Italian Open in Rome with his first ever win over a world No.1-ranked player with a straight-sets defeat of Andy Murray in the second round.
Pennetta, a former world No.1 doubles player, retired at the end of the 2015 season. The 35-year-old, who reached a career-high singles ranking of No.6, won 11 WTA singles and 17 WTA doubles titles during her career.
