After struggling with injuries, Milos Raonic secured a comfortable win on his return to competitive action.

Injury-prone Milos Raonic stepped onto court for the first time in a month and advanced to the third round of the Miami Masters as he beat Serb Viktor Troicki 6-3 7-5.

The Canadian third seed and former Wimbledon finalist who has never won a major, improved his record over Troicki to four wins from five meetings as he made a comeback from a right leg injury, which forced him to concede a walkover in the Delray Beach final in late February.

He then withdrew from Acapulco and Indian Wells.

Raonic won in windy conditions prior to rain which delayed later matches by an hour before the sun returned to Crandon Park.

“Obviously today’s conditions weren’t ideal, I have to be very happy with just the outcome, that I was able to get the win today, that I have another chance to play in two days,” Raonic said.

France’s Jeremy Chardy sprang a surprise as he put out seventh seed Marin Cilic 6-4 2-6 6-3, leaving him with a third straight loss since his last ATP victory in early March.

Czech Jiri Vesely advanced past Albert Ramos 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-3 while German Philipp Kohlschreiber beat American young gun Taylor Fritz 7-5 3-6 7-6 (7-4).
