Rafael Nadal has revealed that he one day hopes to become President of Spanish football club Real Madrid, but concedes that it is unlikely to happen.
Nadal, a long-time supporter of Real, made the admission during an interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
“If you ask me if I would like it, of course I would, why not? But there is more to it…” Nadal said. “I think it will not be. We are very good as we are.
“We have a great president right now, and I don’t think Real Madrid need me, but we never know what can happen in the future. It is not something I can raise today.”
Should Rafa one day take control of the club, it would be a significant change in direction for one of Spain’s largest businesses (and exports). They are currently run by former politician Florentino Perez, who enjoys a warm relationship with the Mallorcan superstar.
