Belinda Bencic was in typically candid mood following her mixed doubles match with Roger Federer at last night’s Hopman Cup.
“It was a goose bump feeling definitely,” Bencic said after the pair completed a clean sweep of the Brits. “I wasn’t nervous at all. Roger made it so comfortable for me to play with him.”
Federer was similarly satisfied following his victory in front of a record Perth Arena crowd.
“It couldn’t have been any better,” Roger said. “It was an unbelievable reception, and then Belinda played a great match and it went very quickly in the doubles. It’s a lot of fun playing with Belinda – she is where I was 15 years ago. Everything is new and she’s learning and she’s going to have an amazing career.”
