The slots are filling at the WTA and ATP Finals, and the race is on between several players to secure the final berths in Singapore and London.

The Grand Slam events may be over for 2016, but the post-US Open stretch of the season is intriguing for a different reason.

The late months of the year are defined by the mad scramble to accrue enough points to qualify for the season-ending WTA and ATP Finals.

These glittering championships showcase elite eight-player fields – only the top eight-performed women and men of the season make the cut.

With just two weeks before the WTA Finals are set to kick off in Singapore, three spots remain up for grabs at the $7,000,000 event.

Tournaments this week in Tianjin, Hong Kong and Linz, followed by events the week after in Moscow and Luxembourg, represent the final opportunities for players to accumulate the points necessary to book their ticket to Singapore.

The ATP World Tour Finals in London are a little further away – the popular event, staged at London’s O2 Arena, doesn’t begin until 13 November.

Yet already, four players have qualified for the season-ending showcase, leaving just four places remaining – with several players in contention.
