Johanna Konta will make her top 10 debut when the WTA rankings are updated on Monday 10 October.
Konta is the fourth WTA player to make her top 10 debut this year and the first British woman in more than 32 years, when Jo Durie reached No.10 on 20 August, 1984.
In addition to entering the top 10, the British No.1 will move into the top eight on the Road to Singapore leaderboard, putting her one step closer to qualifying for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
Konta achieved her top 10 milestone after beating Madison Keys in a semifinal thriller at the China Open.
It was the Briton’s seventh victory over a top 10 opponent in 2016.
Just over a year ago Konta languished outside the world’s top 100, before enjoying a stunning rise that began with her run to the US Open fourth round as a qualifier.
She began season 2016 as the world No.49 before advancing to the semifinals of the Australian Open, her best Grand Slam tournament result.
