The Olympic withdrawals just keep on a-comin’.
To keep track of who’s actually making the trip to Rio – less and less big names by the day, apparently – we’ve put together these handy tables to show you which top 50 stars will be absent from the singles draws at the Olympic Tennis Event.
With Stan Wawrinka’s withdrawal in the last 24 hours, five of the top 10 men will be MIA in Rio. Although the women’s draw is less decimated, five of the top 20 (including two top 10 stars) won’t take to the courts.
Remember: the rankings cut-off for direct acceptances into the main draws was on 6 June. In the two months since then rankings have fluctuated, which goes some way to explaining why a player like current world No.24 Elena Vesnina – who was ranked 53rd at that time – missed out on singles qualification.
