Marcos Baghdatis claimed his 300th career win with victory over Gilles Muller at the French Open.

Marcos Baghdatis notched up a new career milestone on Tuesday, claiming his 300th professional win against Gilles Muller. The 30-year-old downed Muller in straight sets, winning 7-5 6-4 6-1.

Baghdatis, a former Australian Open finalist, has enjoyed a bumpy few years since reaching the dizzy heights of World No.8 in 2006. A consistent performer following that breakthrough year, he dropped out the Top 150 in both 2009 and 2014, before fighting his way back inside the Top 50 this year.

With an 11-8 win / loss record for 2016 (including a final in Dubai), the Cypriot now boasts an overall 300-223 record.

Baghdatis will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round of the French Open. The Frenchman leads the H2h 6-0.
