Grigor Dimitrov has admitted that he’s lost confidence in himself following a dismal start to 2016. The Bulgarian, who was eliminated in the first round of the French Open by Viktor Troicki, is 18-11 this season and has seen his ranking slip to No.36.

“I’ve been there before but this time it’s just kind of different. Sometimes it’s scary of course, it’s just really scary. But I’m positive and happy to come out and work and work and work, that never scares me.
“What scares me is that I’m really not finding a way and usually I’m pretty good at bouncing back, whether it’s from a loss or something else. A lot of losses have always motivated me – just right now it’s not happening.”
It’s been a slow and steady decline for the 25 year-old, who peaked in 2014 when he reached a Wimbledon semifinal and a career-high World No.8 ranking. Since then, he’s split with coach Roger Rasheed, and seen his ranking drop outside the World Top 30.
