Eighth-seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia has topped fifth-seeded Camila Giorgi 6-4 6-0 to win the Katowice Open for her fifth WTA title.
It was the first victory for Cibulkova over the Italian after losing their first two meetings.
She dominated the final set on Sunday with three breaks, converting the first match point.
It was the third straight final appearance at the Katowice Open for Giorgi, but she has never won the title.
She lost the final to Alize Cornet of France in 2014 and to another Slovak player, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, last year.
Cibulkova didn’t waste time, racing to a 4-0 lead in the opening set.
She double faulted at 5-2 to waste a set point, allowing Giorgi to briefly come back after another double fault before serving the set out at 5-4.
