Top seed Serena Williams has progressed to her first final at Indian Wells in 15 years with a 6-4 7-6(1) victory over No.3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska on Friday night.

In the process, the world No.1 took her winning record over the Pole to a perfect 10-0 with the 95-minute victory.

Williams will meet the winner of the second semifinal between Victoria Azarenka and Karolina Pliskova.

In her last appearance in a final at Indian Wells, back in 2001, the American was relentlessly booed throughout her three-set victory over fellow teenager Kim Clijsters.

The event prompted her to boycott the tournament for 14 years before she made an emotion return to the Californian desert in 2015.

“I definitely didn’t see myself being back here, let alone in the finals. But the support has been really, really unbelievable,” she said courtside following the match.

“The last final I had here wasn’t really memorable, so hopefully this one will be a lot different.”
