Belgian David Goffin has continued his stunning run at the BNP Paribas Open with an upset victory over US Open 2014 champion Marin Cilic.

Goffin beat the 10th seed 7-6(4) 6-2 to progress to the first ATP Masters semifinal of his career.

For the second straight match he dismissed a Grand Slam champion; he beat third seed and two-time major winner Stan Wawrinka in three sets in the fourth round.

Goffin owns two career ATP titles – Metz and Kitzbuhel – yet both of those came at 250-level events. He reached the final of the ATP 500 event in Basel in 2014 while his previous best results at a Masters 1000 tournament came in Rome last year, when he advanced to the last eight.

Awaiting the No.15 seed in the Indian Wells semifinals is the winner of the match between Milos Raonic and Gael Monfils.
