A man in Israel has been charged with murdering his wife after she disturbed him while watching the Australian Open final in January.

A court in Tel Aviv, Israel heard that Moisei Beiniashvilli was watching Andy Murray v Novak Djokovic when his wife, Malka, interrupted him at a crucial moment in the match. Mr. Beiniashvilli proceeded to hit her over the head with a wooden chopping board.

It is understood that Mrs. Beiniashvilli managed to throw the chopping board out of the window, at which point her 76 year-old husband hit her on the head with a hammer.

Alerted to the incident by neighbours of the couple, the police arrested Mr. Beiniashvilli when they entered the apartment.

Mrs. Beiniashvilli died three days later of her injuries.

The case continues.
