It may be happening a long way from the centre courts of Grand Slams around the world, but one of the sport’s best doubles pairs will team up again after a lengthy hiatus.

Ash Barty and Casey Dellacqua, one of the best performed doubles teams of 2013 when they reached the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open finals, will reunite at an ITF circuit event in remote Australia next week, according to the Adelaide Advertiser.

Barty, returning to tennis after stepping away from it for 17 months, and Dellacqua, making her way back after a severe concussion forced her to withdraw from several events since October 2015, will pair up in Port Pirie.

The tournament is one of several to make up the Australian Pro Tour.

Barty and Dellacqua won WTA titles together in Birmingham (2013) and Strasbourg (2014).
