Nigel Sears, the coach of Ana Ivanovic and father of Andy Murray’s wife Kim Sears, has returned to work 18 days after he collapsed at the Australian Open.

Sears was taken to hospital after collapsing in the stands during Ivanovic’s loss to Madison Keys in Melbourne last month, but has now made a full recovery.

He was in the stands on Wednesday to watch Ivanovic beat Margarita Gasparyan 7-5 6-2 and reach the quarterfinals of the WTA St Petersburg Ladies Trophy.

Asked about Sears after the match, Ivanovic said: “I think he was happy running on the court so I think he’s all right.”

Sears’ daughter Kim gave birth to a girl on Sunday morning.

The 28-year-old married Murray in his home town of Dunblane in Scotland last April.
