In her first professional match since the 2014 US Open, Ash Barty has scored a win.

The Australian teen, making a comeback to tennis after a 17-month hiatus, teamed with Jess Moore to beat Sally Peers and Barbora Stefkova 6-2 6-2 in the first round of the $25,000 Perth Tennis International #1 ITF event.

Barty is expected to make her singles comeback at a $25,000 event in Mildura later in February.

Barty’s comeback has stirred plenty of interest in the tennis world.

After featuring in a lengthy piece on WTA Insider, the former Wimbledon junior champion and three-time Grand Slam women’s doubles finalist was welcomed back to the game by her compatriots.

Barty and Moore will continue their doubles campaign in Perth against Chinese No.2 seeds Yang Zhaoxuan and Zhu Lin in the quarterfinals.
